Confidence In God

Confidence Our Inheritance

I would like to begin this post with 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Amp Bible: For god did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [he has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgement and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self control]  New International Version: For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline: I like to provide different versions for scripture, after all the King James Version bible was created in 1611. Sometimes KJV can be difficult to understand, I do enjoy reading KJV for some particular scriptures or books but the reading can be difficult. We speak differently these days and lately I haven’t herd anyone say “thou go down thither, to the ye old ice cream shop.” Now back to the point despite the version the message is clear, the holy spirit that Jesus gave to us provides a plethora of amazing gifts that sometimes we forget. Confidence, calmness and being well-balanced are a few of those gifts.

Being confident in life is an essential, wither we want to work for god, serve god or just to live in the world as Christians. But where do we place our confidence? In ourselves? no, we place our confidence in God and the holy spirit that lives within us. 2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. We have the spirit of the creator inside of us! sometimes we forget. When we realize and dwell on the gift that Jesus gave us, the holy spirit we should feel a great amount of comfort, joy and confidence.

There is a struggle against confidence of the flesh and the confidence of the spirit of God. When we place full confidence in ourselves sometimes it manifests into arrogance, smug or haughty meaning superior, disdainful and arrogant. Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lie and a person who stirs up conflict in the community. We have to be careful about placing full confidence in ourselves that  manifests into arrogance rather then confidence in the holy spirits gifts that were given. People reading this may think hey this guy is saying to receive our full confidence in God rather then having confidence in ourselves? Yes, thats exactly what I mean. We are not of this world, we are different, set apart and what works for the people of this world doesn’t always work for us. Its all the way or not at all with God, or at least that should be our attitude. As Jesus said if we are luke warm he will spit us out of his mouth. The confidence of God rains supreme anyhow so lets get the best, its our inheritance. For example walk with confidence, walk knowing that you are walking with the spirit of god and are never alone.Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. Speak with confidence Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness. Having conversations knowing that we have of love, peace, kindness, patience, sound judgement and power from the Holy Spirit.

Be Confident even though you have weaknesses, no one walking this earth is perfect, but Jesus will make up for our weaknesses. 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. The Lord is so good he will  rest his power on our weaknesses, thats how much Jesus Loves All Of Us! Romans 3:23-24.  All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Jesus walked in the flesh he knows how difficult it is. Jesus was tempted with every type of temptation known to man and he overcame everything that came his way. Just knowing that Jesus experienced the flesh, he knows what is common to mankind and by his grace we are made good enough. The confidence that comes from these scriptures is absolutely priceless.

Being confident that your life is on track and God has you right on schedule. Sometimes when you get frustrated that maybe your not where you want to be in life with God just remember that his timing isn’t our timing. I know this can be difficult but we need to keep faith that God will use us to further his glory. We are all very important in the body of Christ. Here are a few of my favorite scriptures that I dwell on when it comes to wanting to be used by God

Jeremiah 29:11 ~ For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Romans 15:13 ~ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Isaiah 40:31 ~ But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Jeremiah 29:11~For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 23:18~ There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
